The Challenge
As the oldest venue in the NCAA Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field is no stranger to the limelight. That’s why university leaders incorporated a stadium redesign into its five-year plan to create the best possible college football experience for the Yellow Jackets community. Along with adding a new sound system and rebranding stadium signage, the project planned an upgrade of the venue’s lighting. The existing system was outdated and required constant maintenance, including temporary fixes that proved to be inadequate. To elevate its game night presentation, Georgia Tech needed a dependable lighting system with advanced entertainment technology.
The Solution
Project leaders knew of Musco’s reputation for lighting high-profile venues and determined its Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ retrofit was the superior solution for the project at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The system delivers enhanced, uniform light levels to improve visibility throughout the stadium and for television broadcasts. With Musco’s Show-Light+® entertainment package, the university can display cutting-edge light shows with light-to-music synchronization and color-changing RGBW technology during player introductions, team celebrations, and half-time shows, while the comprehensive warranty ensures Georgia Tech won’t pay any maintenance costs until the year 2030.
