The district maintains 45 parks, 30 trails, 1,500 acres of natural areas, a seasonal mini-golf facility, a recreation center, a community center, and two indoor pools. Willamalane is committed to serving the community with excellence, is CAPRA-accredited, and is recognized as one of Lane County's Best Places for Working Parents and Springfield's 2026 Employer of the Year. Willamalane works to ensure residents of all ages and backgrounds can access recreation, childcare, and green spaces close to home. In 2025, Springbrook Nature Center launched the “Goats for Growth” initiative, using goats to naturally remove invasive buckthorn, saving labor hours, reducing herbicide use, and engaging the community. The District’s three-person Parks and Facilities team also saved nearly $370,000 through self-performed projects. Committed to honoring the past while embracing the future, the District has led transformative projects including the Itasca Softball Complex and Ray Franzen Bird Sanctuary redevelopment, Benson Park renovation, Itasca Waterpark Redevelopment, historic Train Depot preservation, and the new Itasca Gymnastics & Cheer Center. Through more than 20 intergovernmental agreements, 50 public-private partnerships, adaptive recreation initiatives, and nearly $2 million in grant funding, the Itasca Park District continues to prove that it is truly a “Small But Mighty” agency.

The Los Alamos County Community Services Department helps make Los Alamos a great place to live, work, and visit. The department provides and maintains many of the programs, facilities, and spaces that bring people together and support an active, healthy, and connected community. Every improvement, program, and facility reflect a community effort to make the most of our unique size and minimal resources. Community Services oversees parks, playgrounds, trails, recreation facilities, libraries, community centers, cultural programs, special events, and other public amenities enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout the year. With a mission focused on enhancing quality of life for people of all ages and abilities, Valley City Parks and Recreation provides innovative recreation, wellness, and community experiences that create a lasting impact throughout Valley City and Barnes County. Serving approximately 6,500 residents, our team of 13 full-time staff manages a 65,000-square-foot wellness center, 10 parks, six sports complexes, trails, a campground, and a 9-hole golf course while offering more than 120 programs, activities, and events annually. From youth sports to arts programming, Valley City Parks and Recreation creates opportunities that bring people together and strengthen community connections. Signature events such as Parktober Festival, Safety in the Park, and North Dakota’s largest water festival, Sheyenne RiverFest, promote recreation, community pride, and local partnerships. Recent investments in a six-court outdoor pickleball complex, a destination playground, Hidden Pond Trail, tree planting initiatives, and accessibility improvements demonstrate the department’s commitment to innovation, inclusion, and sustainability.
